For a while now I've been thinking a lot about how many cartoons from the 80's and 90's could actually be classified as "HORROR CARTOONS". Many of these shows aren't exactly scary or horrific, but they do have elements of the horror genre throughout the series - even if it is something simple like a monster. Shows with an evil villain that are horrifying do not count if another aspect outweighs the horrific element. ie. Masters of the Universe had Skeletor, but the show was primarily made up of science fiction and fantasy elements (comedy is ok). Here's a list of some of the shows I could think of and will eventually cover in some way or another on this site:
Aaahh! Real Monsters
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes
Beetlejuice
Count Duckula
Dingbat and the Creeps
Ghostbusters
Gravedale High
Inhumanoids
Little Shop
Madballs
Mighty Max
My Pet Monster
Mummies Alive!
The Real Ghostbusters
Scooby Doo
Skeleton Warriors
Swamp Thing
Tales from the Cryptkeeper
Teen Wolf
Toxic Crusaders
If anyone reading out there can think of any more, please let me know so I can add it to the list!
Haha, Madballs. Totally forgot about those!
ReplyDeleteWhat about the "not real" ghostbusters? The old-school one?
ReplyDeleteGood one! I can't believe I forgot Filmation's Ghostbuster series!
ReplyDeleteI will have to add it when I get a chance.
FilmGhostbusters (1986) was an animated remake of the live action series THE GHOST BUSTERS from 1975.
Hey- well, there's always Courage the Cowardly Dog- started in year 1999, I believe...
